Cathy’s Story: Babies and a Breast Cancer Scare

I have been a patient of Dr. Lee and Dr. Thibodeau Khan since 2003- an entire decade. These women have seen me through the birth of my two girls and a nasty scare with breast cancer. I cannot imagine going anywhere else!

When I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, Riley, Dr. Thibodeau Khan was also pregnant with one of her boys. Being taken care of by a doctor who was in my same position was a great experience for me. She was always exceedingly knowledgeable, yet very down to earth. This is a tough combination to find in doctors, so I feel very blessed to have had this for all my OB/GYN care.

Then two years later, Monarch helped me deliver my second daughter, Katie. I like to call Katie’s birth a “tag team effort” between Dr. Lee and Dr. Thibodeau Khan at the Maryview Family Birth Center. When I met Dr. Lee, who was new to the practice, I instantly was at ease. She, like Dr. Thibodeau Khan, has the awesome ability to take excellent care of your health needs, yet also touch you on a personal level. I was completely comfortable in both of their brilliant hands. So comfortable in fact, that my husband, John, hardly ever came to my pregnancy appointments with me, except for finding out the sex of our babies. He would ask me, “Honey, do you want me to go with you today to the doctor?” I would always say, “There is really no need. Those women are like my family. I am completely supported there, and I am fine to go by myself.” I was that confident in my care!

Gallahorn Girls

Between the births of my two girls, the Monarch doctors helped me through a very scary time in my life. One day when I was at home with Riley, I found a lump in my breast. “Is this cancer?” I thought. “If not, what is it? What will happen to me? I want to be here for my baby girl!” As all these thoughts were storming in and out of my anxious mind, I called and made an appointment with Dr. Thibodeau Khan. After my examination, she comforted and reassured me that everything would be alright. She immediately referred me to a well-known, local breast cancer specialist, whom she felt would take great care of me. As terrified and anxious as I was, I knew that I was in good hands. Thankfully, the doctors ruled out breast cancer. I have what is known as Fibrous Breast Syndrome. This was a huge answer to prayer for me, as I was submitting this daily to God.

Cathy’s Advice:

If I had to give one piece of advice to anyone in a similar situation, I would say find YOUR “perfect doctor match.” You should feel like you are in the best hands for YOUR individual situation. You want to have the utmost confidence in your doctors and the staff, as I do with Monarch Women’s Wellness.

The Gallahorn Family

Through the past 10 years with these wonderful doctors, I have always had individualized care that more than surpassed my expectations. I have even formed a professional relationship with Dr. Thibodeau Khan, as I am her family veterinarian. These women are wonderful to work with, in and out of the office!  Even though I am done having children, I am thankful that I have these doctors to assist me in any future GYN needs.

Becky and the rest of the Monarch care team make you feel like family. They hold your hand when you cry, stand up and cheer for you in triumph, laugh at your weirdness, and treat you like no other practitioner ever could. I wonder some times what in the world brought all of these caring people together in one place. It never matters how incredibly busy they all are, when they walk into your room you are their only patient and they treat your whole self, soul and all. Thank you to my Monarch Care Team.
