Congratulations to two of our surgeons, Rebecca Thibodeau Khan, M.D. and Rachel D. Lee, MD, who have earned the Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology™ (COEMIG™) designation by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) and Surgical Review Corporation (SRC).  Our surgeons are 2 of only 3 surgeons in Southeastern Virginia to receive this designation.  The COEMIG program was established in 2010 to help providers continuously improve care quality and patient safety while lowering overall costs associated with successful treatment. It recognizes surgeons and facilities that demonstrate an unparalleled commitment and ability to consistently deliver safe, effective, evidence-based care. The COEMIG designation allows for data entry and feedback that helps to improve patient outcomes, improve processes and decrease surgical complications.

“Our team at Monarch continuously strives to provide women with innovative, minimally invasive surgical treatment options for hysterectomies, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, prolapse, and other gynecologic conditions,” said Dr. Khan, of Monarch Women’s Wellness and medical director of COEMIG.

“Our COEMIG participation will advance Monarch in the adoption of new minimally invasive gynecology surgery procedures, enabling women to benefit from less pain and blood loss, fewer complications, shorter hospital stays and faster recoveries when compared to conventional surgery.”

“We are honored to receive this designation and national recognition for our continuing efforts to provide the women of our community with the very best, least invasive, and cutting-edge OB-GYN services available,” said Dr. Lee.
